Electricity

Electricity is supplied and distributed by Carolina Power & Light Company.

Wastewater

Cary operates two water reclamation facilities. Both use extended aeration and activated sludge processing. The South Facility has a design capacity of 10 MGD with an average flow of 3.292 MGD. The North Facility has a 12.8 MGD design capacity with an average flow of 5.542 MGD.

Water

The Cary/ Apex water treatment plant serves the citizens of Cary and Apex as well as sells water to Morrisville, RDU, and the Southern part of the Research Triangle Park. It currently has a design capacity of 16 MGD.

Solid Waste Disposal

Landfill operated by Wake County. Most businesses contract with private companies for trash pickup and disposal. For residents, the city provides trash pickup and disposal and operates recycling programs for aluminum and steel cans, glass, plastic, yard waste, cardboard and newspapers.
